Bookkeepers update and maintain accounting records, including those which tabulate expenditures, receipts, accounts payable and receivable and profit and loss. Clerks perform numerous computations each day and must be comfortable using computers to calculate and record data. They verity and enter information, balance the books, compile reports and financial statements, receive, record, bank and pay out cash, and may calculate employee wages from records or time cards to issue payroll checks.
